Located in a lovely village in Weardale, Stanhope Cottage offers four star accomodation nestled under Stanhope Castle yet near the peace and tranquility of the River Wear.

The holiday cottage is suitable for four people, and has two bedrooms. It is available to let all year round. We rent the cottage on a weekly basis from Saturday to Saturday, but we can also accommodate short breaks. We also can let for longer period of up to two to three months in the winter. 

The cottage is graded as four star by our holiday cottage, Hoseasons, and we have received excellent feedback from visitors the cottages4you website (ref 41325).

The main bedroom  has a comfortable superking sized bed which can be split into two single beds.

The second bedroom has a comfortable queen sized bed. The bedrooms are carpeted throughout. All bed linen is of Egyptian cotton with feather down duvets and pillow.

Non allergenic bed linen is available on request.  A hairdryer is provided.

The bathroom has a toilet, heated towel rail, and large shower with ceramic tiles on the walls and floor. It has been newly renovated in 2011. Fluffy cream bath and hand towels are provided. The cottage is centrally heated.

The kitchen contains newly fitted appliances: fridge/freezer, dishwasher, stainless steel oven with grill and four ring hob, microwave, and washing machine, as well as small kitchen appliances.

The living/dining room contains comfortable seating for four people with a traditional solid oak dining table and chairs. There is a television and DVD player. The property is warm, very clean, and well decorated, and the furniture traditional and tasteful. Please see pictures on The Cottage page.

We are enivronmentally conscious, and have low enery lightbulbs where possible in the property and have installed a new maximally efficient combi boiler. There is a fortnightly doorstep recycling collection from the cottage.

The cottage is the ideal base for walking, hiking  or cycling in the local area or for rest and relaxation exploring the numerous sites of interest in the Dales nearby.

The village is also a great location from which to explore the many attractions in the North East of England, including Durham City and Cathedral, Hadrians's Wall, Beamish Museum, Newcastle City centre with its shops and restaurants, and the Gateshead Metrocentre, one of the largest shopping malls in Europe.

The historic city of York, with its magificent Minster, and the North Yorkshire Moors are within reach of Stanhope for a day trip.

The central location of the cottage in Stanhope means local shops and pubs are no more than a few minutes walk, so you can leave your car behind!
